DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:ABSTRACT: This talk begins with a brief introduction of the history of HPC development in China and the shifts of the R&D focus in this field. Then the key project of the China's High-tech R&D program on high productivity computer and grid service environment is introduced. The key technical issues concerned in the development of high productivity computers are discussed and the major approaches in developing the peta-scale computers are presented. The efforts in the past 10 years in developing the national computing infrastructure, the China National Grid (CNGrid), as well as in developing the HPC and Grid applications are presented afterwards. The status and the possible follow-ups in the next 5 years in this field are given towards the end of the talk.
