When viewing the Technical Program schedule, on the far righthand side
is a column labeled "PLANNER." Use this planner to build your own
schedule. Once you select an event and want to add it to your personal
schedule, just click on the calendar icon of your choice (outlook
calendar, ical calendar or google calendar) and that event will be
stored there. As you select events in this manner, you will have your
own schedule to guide you through the week.
You can also create your personal schedule on the SC11 app (Boopsie) on your smartphone. Simply select a session you want to attend and "add" it to your plan. Continue in this manner until you have created your own personal schedule. All your events will appear under "My Event Planner" on your smartphone.
Application Grand Challenges in the Heterogeneous Accelerator Era
SESSION: Application Grand Challenges in the Heterogeneous Accelerator Era
EVENT TYPE: Birds of a Feather
TIME: 5:30PM - 7:00PM
SESSION LEADER(S):Pavan Balaji, Satoshi Matsuoka
ROOM:TCC 202
ABSTRACT: Accelerators have recently gained prominence as the next disruptive technology with a potential to provide a non-incremental jump in performance. However, the number of applications that have actually moved to these technologies is still limited. This is because of many reasons, arguably the biggest of which is the gap in understanding between accelerator hardware developers (what features are available and upcoming) and application developers (what applications need).
This BoF session aims to provide a unique opportunity to fill this gap. It will be organized as a debate-and-discuss session between two camps. In the first camp, application developers from different domains would be asked to describe their requirements and point out the challenges they are facing with current accelerator technologies. In the second camp, a panel of accelerator hardware/software developers would then be on the "hot-seat" to address these concerns, from the application developers and the audience, and give appropriate suggestions.
